- The City of Sandy Springs will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for Fire Station Two on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 11:00 a.m. The city will be offering public tours through the facility during the event. The new station is replacing the former station that was built in 1969. Participants can park at the City Springs Parking Garage on Galambos Way for the event. (Reporter Newspapers)
- Chamblee has joined Sandy Springs as a member of the North Metro SWAT. Sandy Springs has been part of the team since 2013. The Sandy Springs City Council voted to allow Chamblee to join due to a relatively low number of SWAT activations that Chamblee has had over the last five years. The addition of Chamblee is not expected to drain the team's resources significantly. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Fulton County elections will be observed by The Carter Center. Former President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter founded the nonpartisan organization in 1982. The motion to have The Carter Center monitor the election is meant as a way to ease partisan tensions in the county. (The Darien Times)
