Riverwood Senior Honored by City for Soccer and Academic Achievements

Alexis de Groot is one of the top seven high school female players in Georgia and ranks among the top two percent of female soccer players in the United States, a Sandy Springs proclamation said.

 

Riverwood International Charter School senior Alexis de Groot was honored by the city of Sandy Springs, Tuesday, as one of the top seven high school female players in Georgia. She ranks among the top two percent of female soccer players in the United States, a proclamation said.

Mayor Eva Galambos read the proclamation citing de Groot’s accomplishments during the City Council meeting. Her many Riverwood awards include Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year, while helping the Riverwood Raiders to reach soccer state playoffs for four consecutive years.

de Groot is a member of the National Honor Society and was named a recipient of the University of Rochester George Eastman Young Leaders Award 2012. She has been recruited to play Division I soccer for Elon University in North Carolina.
