From Riverwood International Charter School: Riverwood International Charter School is proud to announce that Juniors Destynee Jones and Dori Balser won “Future Leaders of America” scholarships from the Fulton County Law Week Committee to attend a Washington Workshop Seminar this summer.
Jones and Balser went through an extensive application and interview process for the scholarships, and were competing with outstanding high school students from across Metro Atlanta. The scholarships cover round-trip airfare, tuition, room and board, and all expenses associated with the Washington Workshop Congressional Seminar. Montlick & Associates is sponsoring Jones’ scholarship; Malone Law is sponsoring Balser’s. The awards were presented at the annual Fulton County Law Week Ceremony on April 27, 2017 at the Fulton County Government Center Assembly Hall.
The 2017 summer workshop offers a unique experience to study American government and history with 10-12th grade students from across the country. During their week in Washington, D.C., students will attend meetings of the Senate, the House of Representatives, and the Supreme Court, and will become acquainted with other governmental offices and institutions. They will also attend an event at the historic Dumbarton house, national headquarters of The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America.
