Sandy Springs Athletics Manager Named Programmer Of The Year
Trevor Ramos was named Programmer of the Year for District 7 by the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — For more than nine years as the athletics manager for the city of Sandy Springs, Trevor Ramos has provided programs and special events which have touched the lives of more than 50,000 families.
On Wednesday, Oct. 24, Ramos was recognized for his contributions, as he was named Programmer of the Year for District 7 by the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association.
“Trevor has a passion for athletics and recreation, and he recognizes the important role these programs can play, especially for the youth in the community, said Sandy Springs Recreation and Parks Director Mike Perry. “Trevor understands that recreation is more than just a program or a sport. He keeps the playing field level so that programming is accessible to all, and he is the ultimate team player, driven for his programs to be successful and impactful for the participants, even if that means stepping in as a coach when one is needed. He approaches each task with a smile.”

As a recreational programmer for the city, Ramos works closely with a number of nonprofit organizations that encourage involvement and helps spread recreational services to thousands of citizens in the Sandy Springs community. He developed working relationships with school administration within Sandy Springs and the Fulton County Land Management Office helping to develop and grow partnerships for common community purposes.

Ramos also created programs such as Sticks for Kids, a golf program offered free of charge to children in the community to help them learn the patience, technique, and focus required of the sport. He teamed up with a non-profit organization, obtaining the equipment needed through a donation from the Golf Course Builders Association of America. The GCBAA recognized Ramos with the Sticks for Kids Excellence Award for his dedication to the game of golf and the youth of Sandy Springs.
Ramos has created and developed youth soccer leagues, a competitive track and field team, and youth wrestling programs which resulted in a 500 percent participation increase over the past seven years. He also developed a youth basketball program resulting in a 200 percent increase in participation over seven years, expanding into eight different public school facilities in Sandy Springs.
A member of Georgia Recreation and Parks Association since 2006, Ramos has completed GRPA Leadership I & II and recently became a certified Park and Recreation Park Professional. Ramos has served on the Governance Board for Ison Springs Elementary and is a certified USA wrestling coach.
