- During the Dec. 6 Sandy Springs City Council Meeting, council members created a new "floating holiday" for the city's 2023 holiday schedule. City employees will have an extra paid day off each year to celebrate Juneteenth, Veterans Day, or any other occasion they choose. Council members decided to create a floating holiday instead of putting Juneteenth on the list of designated paid holidays for 2023. (Appen Media)
- Yesterday, Dec. 13, Sandy Springs held an open house to gather the public's thoughts on how to use Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) money for the next five years. A needs assessment meeting will be held on Jan. 11, 2023, and an update to the City Council will be provided on Jan. 23, 2023. A draft plan will then be prepared after a 30-day public comment period, and on May 2, 2023, the City Council is scheduled to adopt that plan. (Reporter Newspapers + Atlanta Intown)
