- At around 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, a Sandy Springs police officer was nearly hit by a driver in a black Lamborghini SUV. According to the officer, the driver was driving recklessly, almost hit the police cruiser, and then sped away. Police were able to find the driver after the SUV crashed along Peachtree Road near Peachtree Dunwoody Road. The driver was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, revoked license, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. (WSB-TV)
- According to U-Haul data on truck rentals, Sandy Springs is one of two Georgia cities that made this year's rankings of top growth cities in the United States. U-Haul based the growth rankings on one-way truck rentals. Sandy Springs was in the top 25 growth cities in America. The other Georgia city, Athens, was number 12 on the list. (WGAU)
- A grand jury indicted Robert Komhlan, who is allegedly involved in a fatal shooting outside the Wonderland Gentlemen's Club in Providence last year. Komhlan was arrested in Sandy Springs and is charged with murder, discharge of a firearm while committing a crime of violence, carrying a pistol without a license, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and discharge of a firearm in a compact area.
