Here are the top three stories in Sandy Springs today:

1. The Sandy Springs Police Department traffic units made six DUI arrests over the holiday weekend. Police also recovered a stolen gun, a large amount of cash, and two sandwich bags they believe contained marijuana during the traffic stops. (WSB-TV 2 Atlanta)
2. Life Hope Labs of Sandy Springs agreed to pay $16,500 and implement corrective measures to resolve a potential violation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. The announcement came yesterday, Jan. 3, from the Department of Health and Human Services. Life Hope Labs allegedly failed to provide medical records in a timely manner, delivering the records more than seven months after they were requested. (Bloomberg Law)
3. On Jan. 7, residents can recycle their Christmas trees at "Bring One for the Chipper," a tree recycling program that supports wider eco-friendly holiday efforts. Keep North Fulton Beautiful will host this event at three locations, including the Home Depot located at 6400 Peachtree Dunwoody Road in Sandy Springs and the Sandy Springs Recycling Center (which will accept trees until Jan. 21).
