Police released the names of two men arrested in connection with a Monday night kidnapping that led North Metro SWAT to a Sandy Springs apartment complex on Roswell Road.

James Alexander, 28, of Atlanta was charged with family violence battery and kidnapping, and his friend, Steven Glass, was also charged with kidnapping, said Sgt. Ernesto Ford of Chamblee police.

Security video shows Glass was watching the victim and her friend in the Chamblee Walmart on Chamblee Tucker Road at around 10 p.m. when the two women left the store, Ford said. When the two women approached their car in the parking lot, Alexander's ex-girlfriend was grabbed and beaten inside the car until she was unconscious. The victim's friend managed to escape, Ford said.

Alexander brought her back to his apartment at the Pointe at Canyon Ridge and kept her there, according to information from Sandy Springs police Capt. Steve Rose.

Rose said, the SWAT team was on the way into the apartment by forced entry shortly after 4 a.m. “She walked out as they were coming in. It appeared she was beaten,” he said. “Afterwards they were going to go to Waffle House to eat. At that point SWAT was coming up.”

The man retreated inside but SWAT talked him out and he was taken into custody.
