Weekender: Musicals, Pro Cycling Race, Cinco de Mayo and More Sandy Springs Happenings
Ray's on the River will host a tequila class on Saturday.
- “Showstoppers.” Act3 Productions presents the show as part of ArtSSpring 2013. It is a youth talent competition featuring elementary, middle and high school students from all around the metro-Atlanta area. The competition is divided into three shows-at 11 a.m., 3 and 8 p.m., Saturday, at Act3 Playhouse. $15.
- Tequila Class at Ray’s on the River. The restaurant hosts a tequila cocktail class from 1-4 p.m., Saturday. Participants will learn about different tequilas and how to make tasty, summertime concoctions. Guests can sip on the drinks while indulging on gourmet tacos. For more information, call 770-955-1187.
- Cinco Cabana at Moderna. The restaurant opens its beach-style outdoor bar with $5 Skinny Margaritas and cabana-inspired cocktails. Cinco de Mayo festivities start at 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. A late-night party stars at 10 p.m. $10 cover charge.
- Global Imports Sandy Springs Cycling Challenge. The event is the culmination in a series of seven races – aka Speed Week - in the USA Crit Championship Series. It features the best criterium cyclists in the world racing the downtown streets of seven southern cities. Festivities start with a 7 a.m. registration for a 9 a.m. Northside Hospital Metric Century Ride. The Taste of Sandy Springs event is held from 11-7 a.m. Visit the website for a full schedule of events.
- The Punchline. Comedian Craig Shoemaker performs Friday and Saturday. Rich Aronovitch performs Sunday. Visit the website for showtimes.
- “High School Musical, Jr.” Ridgeview Charter Middle School students perform in their spring production. The show is a condensed version of the hit movie. Performances are 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday; 3 p.m., Sunday at the school. $7.
