Pilot Killed, 1 Injured In GA Plane Crash

The National Transportation Safety Board on Monday said it is investigating a GA plane crash that killed a pilot and injured a passenger.

SAVANNAH, GA — The National Transportation Safety Board on Monday said it is investigating a deadly crash that killed a pilot and injured a passenger Sunday in Savannah.

The fatal crash happened around 9:45 p.m. Sunday in the area of Habersham Street and East 66th Street, according to the International Association of Firefighters on Facebook.

The NTSB described the plane as a Cessna 336 aircraft.

The association, which shared a photo of what appears to be a small crumpled plane, said union firefighters responded to a downed aircraft.

While the association did not say how many people had to be extricated from the plane, Savannah Police said the passengers suffered minor injuries. Police said the pilot died in the crash.

The cause of the crash is unknown.
