Ambassador Andy Young Endorses Shelia Edwards for District 4

I am pleased to announce that Former United Nations Ambassador and Atlanta Mayor Andrew “Andy” Young has endorsed my candidacy for District 4 Commissioner.

“I have known Shelia Edwards for more than twenty years and she will look out for her community, protect your quality of life, and insist upon inclusion and fairness. Shelia is a good person, who will serve the role with distinction. I endorse her candidacy fully for Cobb County’s Fourth District Commissioner.”

I am grateful to Andy for his endorsement of me for Commissioner of District 4. Andy is an admired and respected leader who is revered around the world. His support, his endorsement, and his friendship are greatly appreciated and confirms for voters that a vote for me is a vote for a better community. Andy’s legacy of service presents a road map for me, as well as others, to follow as we serve our communities.

Andy Young served as a close confidant to Martin Luther King, Jr and a leader in the civil rights movement. Andy also served as Executive Director of the Southern Leadership Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). He was an American politician, diplomat, and activist who began his career as a pastor and later became active in politics, serving as a U.S. Congressman from Georgia, Ambassador to the United Nations under President Jimmy Carter and Mayor of Atlanta. Since leaving office, Young has founded or served in many organizations working on issues of public policy and political lobbying.
