Here are the top three stories in Smyrna-Vinings today:
- The Cobb County Police Department announced that it has solved 100 percent of 62 homicides that have happened in the county over the last two years. According to Chief Stuart VanHoozer, the average solve rate nationally is around 54 percent. VanHoozer credited the dedicated detectives working the cases and community support for solving the cases. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- Officials reported that a Cobb County police officer was involved in a car accident with another driver down the road near Marietta. The incident reportedly happened around 7 a.m. on Thursday morning, and the officer was reported to have sustained minor injuries while the other driver's condition is currently unknown at the time of this writing. Police are investigating the cause of the crash. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
- It's almost spring break! If your kids are looking for something fun to do, Smyrna Parks and Recreation will be offering Spring Break Youth Musical Theatre Camps from Apr. 3 to 7 at the Smyrna Community Center. Children in grades K through 2 will be working on a production of "Sleeping Beauty," while grades 3 through 6 will perform in "The Wizard of Oz."
