CCSD Accepting Name Suggestions for New Smyrna Elementary School

The Name Selection Committee will take suggestions at a public forum and via email.

Smyrna’s new elementary school is still several months from completion, but the Cobb County School District is wasting no time choosing the school’s name.

The 10-member Name Selection Committee has scheduled a public forum for Tuesday, July 17 at 6 p.m. at  to take name suggestions for the new school. Speakers will have three to five minutes to explain why they support their proposed name. Those unable to attend the meeting can email suggestions to communications@cobbk12.org with “Smyrna Replacement School” in the headline.

The new Smyrna elementary school is under construction now and will open its doors to students at the beginning of the 2013 school year. Once completed, the school will consist of nine kindergarten classrooms, 24 primary classrooms, 16 intermediate classrooms, two computer labs, two art classrooms, two music classrooms, four special education classrooms, a physical education area, a media center and personnel and administrative offices.
