  1. For those who commute into Atlanta, your route may have just gotten easier. After nearly two years, the Cheshire Bridge reopened yesterday afternoon following a celebration ceremony. In August 2021, a gas line under the bridge ruptured and set a fire that burned for hours. City officials hope that its reopening will have a positive impact on businesses that have seen customers drop significantly due to the inconvenience. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  2. As humidity drops, temperatures rise, and summer approaches, Cobb County residents should pay attention to high fire danger alerts issued by the National Weather Service. Residents may have received a notification that Cobb County was on high alert Tuesday afternoon. When receiving these alerts, always consult your local fire ordinances to see if you're permitted to do any outdoor burning. If you do, use extreme caution. (Cobb County Courier)
  3. The Smyrna Spring Jonquil Festival is fast approaching. The festival gathers over 150 arts and crafts booths with many handmade products, from jewelry to paintings to clothing and more. There will also be 12 food booths, entertainment, and children's activities. On Saturday, Apr. 29, the festival will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Sunday, Apr. 30, the festival hours are from noon to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free. Be sure not to miss one of Smyrna's most anticipated events of the year. (City of Smyrna)

  • Due to high public demand, Cobb County will host a 2023 Medication Take Back Event on Saturday, Apr. 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event is to help residents dispose of medication safely. Creams, pills, ointments, pet medications, patches, and vials are accepted and there are no limits on quantity. Precinct One in Kennesaw and the C. Freeman Poole Senior Center in Smyrna will be accepting these items. (Cobb County Government)
  • The Cobb County Government is offering CPR classes twice each month, and the next one is on Apr. 13. The course will teach adult/child/infant CPR, choking, the use of an AED, and how to stop a bleed until help arrives. There is a non-refundable $5 registration fee to reserve your seat. A list of classes can be found here. (Cobb County Government)
  • Mark your calendars for Saturday, Apr. 29, at 11:00 a.m.! Cobb Master Gardeners will help you select plants and materials to design a sensory garden that will encourage exploration and engagement. Plant diversity in color, texture, smell, and taste makes sensory gardens perfect for appealing to children. Don't forget to bring any extra perennial divisions, seedlings, or houseplants you may have to trade with other gardeners! Register at this link. (Cobb County Public Library)
