Cobb County Gearing Up for Winter

The Board of Commissioners has approved the purchase of cold-weather equipment, part of a $1 million effort to boost readiness for winter.

SMYRNA-VININGS, GA -- The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted to purchase more inclement weather equipment to bolster the county’s readiness in case another winter storm strikes the area.

Commissioners approved the purchase of two spread hoppers at a cost of just over $70,000 during their Tuesday meeting, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The purchase, and last month’s purchase of buildings to store salt and sand, is part of a $1 million program to buy winter weather equipment to ensure that the nightmare conditions during the 2014 snowstorm are not repeated, the AJC reports.
