MONDAY: Cobb County School District Starts Classes
Classes start Monday for Cobb County School District. Here's a back-to-school guide.

COBB COUNTY, GA -- Classes begin Monday for the Cobb County School District. For most elementary schools, class begins at 7:50 a.m. and ends at 2:20 p.m. Middle schools start at 9:15 a.m. and end at 4:15 p.m., and class begins in the district's high schools at 8:20 a.m. and let out at 3:30 p.m.
The district, the second-largest in Georgia, had a busy summer, completing nearly 50 projects over the summer. Four schools -- Brumby Elementary, East Cobb Middle, Walton High, Osborne High -- are in the process of being either redesigned or replaced, the district said. Major renovations are ongoing at six high schools: Pope, North Cobb, Campbell, South Cobb, Harrison and Lassiter.

The district has hired more than 800 teachers and filled more than 1,100 total certified vacancies.
