Cobb Eatery Named One Of America's Best BBQ Joints

The Food Network has named America's best barbecue restaurants from coast to coast, and this Akers Mill Road spot made the list.

ATLANTA -- The Food Network has recently named “America’s Best Barbecue from Coast to Coast,” and Cobb County-based Heirloom Market made the list.

“You can find remnants of the old-school style even in new-school Atlanta joints like Heirloom Market, where high-quality meat is prepared in a range of styles (think sweet and spicy Korean sauce) that include the local classic tomato sauce,” the network said.

Other Georgia restaurants included were Poole's in Ellijay and Two Brothers in Ball Ground.

"In the 1970s and 1980s, before cheffy barbecue arrived on the scene, Atlanta was all about heavily smoked chopped pork served with a sweet and vinegary tomato sauce," the network said. "That's what still dominates the northwest of the state at places like But you can find remnants of the old-school style even in new-school Atlanta joints like Heirloom Market, where high-quality meat is prepared in a range of styles (think sweet and spicy Korean sauce) that include the local classic tomato sauce."

Smokin’ Pig near Savannah and Macon’s Fincher's Bar-B-Q were also included.
