Cobb Parkway Lanes to Shift Monday, Tuesday

Contractors are widening Cobb Parkway from five to six lanes between Paces Mill and Akers Mill roads.

Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will begin a traffic shift next week on SR 3/US 41/Cobb Parkway northbound and southbound between Akers Mill Road and Cumberland Boulevard, the department said Friday.

The shifts will occur between 7 p.m., Monday, December 7 and 5 a.m., Tuesday, December 8 and from 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 8 until 5 a.m., Wednesday, December 9

The traffic shift will move traffic to the new outside lanes. Travel lanes will close intermittently to allow crews to strip the new alignment. Two travel lanes will remain open. The two-way left turn lane will close permanently to allow crews to construct a concrete median.
