Cobb Parkway Traffic Shift Starts Wednesday

GDOT contractors are widening Cobb Parkway to six lanes and adding a median, forcing traffic to shift lanes several days this week.

Weather permitting; Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will begin a traffic shift this week on SR 3/US 41/Cobb Parkway northbound and southbound between Akers Mill Road and Cumberland Boulevard, the department said Monday.

Work will take place between 7 p.m., Wednesday, December 9 and 5 a.m., Thursday, December 10 and 7 p.m., Thursday, December 10 and 5 a.m., Friday, December 11.

The traffic shift will move traffic to the new outside lanes. Travel lanes will close intermittently to allow crews to stripe the new alignment. Two travel lanes will remain open. The two-way left turn lane will close permanently to allow crews to construct a concrete median.
