Qualifying for state and county elections began Wednesday morning and some eager candidates have already thrown their hats into the ring.

*Both Pearlberg and Poole are seeking the seat being vacated by Cobb County Supeior Court Judge Dororthy Robinson.

11 a.m. Judge S. Lark Ingram officially qualified this morning as a candidate for Cobb County Superior Court. She has held this seat on the bench since she was first elected in 1995.

Nathan J. Wade qualified for a seat on the Superior Court this morning as well. He's running against Judge Reuben Green. According to Wade’s website, he served the Cobb County solicitor’s office as an assistant solicitor before going into private practice.

Van Pearlberg is vying for the seat being vacacted by Judge Dorothy Robinson. The Cobb County assistant district attorney qualified this morning.

11:30 a.m. Stan Wise has qualified his candidacy for Cobb County's Public Service Commissioner. An incumbent, Wise has served on the Georgia Public Service Commission since 1995 and served as the commission's chairman in 1997, 1999, 2006 and 2011.  

1:15 p.m. Incumbent Congressman David Scott has qualified for Georgia's District 13 seat. 

Drew Ellenburg qualified for the District 6 State Senate seat as did the incumbent candidate Doug Stoner

Smyrna's incumbent state Rep. Rich Golick put in his bid for re-election this afternoon.

Incumbent candidate Reuben Green qualified for Cobb County Superior Court Judge. He's being challenged by Nathan Wade who qualified earlier Wednesday morning.

4 p.m. Since we last posted, two more candidates, Josh Belinfante and Hunter Hill, have officially qualified for the District 6 State Senate seat. 

Rep. Phil Gingrey who also qualified this afternoon, has some competition for the District 11 seat. Michael Opitz, a mediator and arbiter from Marietta has thrown in his hat.

State Rep. Stacey Evans has qualified to run for her seat again. Evans has held the District 42 seat since 2010.

Several candidates qualified as Cobb Superior Court Judge candidates: Tain Kell, an incumbent; Greg Poole, who is running against Van Pearlberg for the seat Judge Dorothy Robinson is vacating; and J. Stephen Schuester.

Two candidates qualified this afternoon for the Cobb County District Atttorney seat: Vic Reynolds and Cindi Yeager.

6 p.m. Incumbent Cobb Superior Court Judge Adele Grubbs was day one's last qualifying canidate. Check back with Smyrna-Vinings Patch Thursday for more qualifying action.
