- Atlanta has seen its earliest extremely high range of pollen count in over 30 years with tree pollen being the main contributor. Atlanta Allergy & Asthma reported a count of 1,605 on Monday, which is the highest range for this season. Patients with allergies, particularly to tree pollen, will experience symptoms at these levels. (WSB Atlanta)
- Monday is the last day for Georgia lawmakers to pass legislation through the House or Senate and advance to the other legislative chamber for consideration this year. Lawmakers will decide on proposals such as the legalization of sports betting and the restriction of gender-affirming care for children under 18 years old. HB 462 proposes raising the age for filing adult criminal charges from 17 to 18 years old, and HB 170 would impose sales tax on digital goods bought online, such as movies. (WSB Atlanta)
- The Georgia Department of Public Health provided health inspection scores for Cobb County food establishments for the previous week. Tassa Authentic Caribbean Cuisine, Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken, and Cozy Coop received perfect inspection scores of 100, while the Old Highway Zaxby's, El Jefe's Taqueria, and McCray's Tavern East Cobb scored in the low 80s. - The City of Smyrna partnered with Rebuilding Together Atlanta to administer the Community Development Block Grant Home Repair Program, which seeks to provide low-income homeowners with funding for housing rehabilitation projects. Rebuilding Together Atlanta will continue coordinating with contractors for further repairs to ensure residents can live safely in their homes. (City of Smyrna, GA Government via Facebook)
- The Smyrna Water Department office will close early at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 10, for maintenance work. The maintenance work will be carried out from the early closing on Friday through the weekend, and regular hours will resume on Monday, Mar. 13. (City of Smyrna, GA Government via Facebook)
- On Wednesday, Mar. 8, the Smyrna Elementary PTA Star Store will be open from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. at the second-grade staircase. Bring cash to purchase fun items, and the proceeds will go to support SES PTA programming. (Smyrna Elementary PTA via Facebook)
