Last Chance to Apply for Summer Lifeguard Jobs

The City is currently looking for lifeguards, a head lifeguard and cashiers for its pool facilities this summer.

Summer is fast approaching, which means there's little time left to apply to be a lifeguard or a cashier at one of the City of Smyrna's aquatic facilities. The last chance to apply for seasonal jobs is Friday, May 4.

Lifeguards and the head lifeguard must be 16 years or older and are scheduled to work between 30 and 40 hours a week during the summer. Their duties include monitoring pool activities, administering first aid when necessary, keeping the facility clean and safe, teaching swim lessons, overseeing pool parties and special events and collecting and recording fees. Lifeguards are paid $8 an hour.

• Minimum 16 years of age. 
• Current certifications or ability to obtain such certifications prior to pool opening dates in Lifeguard Training, Standard First Aid, Community CPR, and Water Safety Instructor. 
• Ability to deal tactfully, cooperatively, and courteously with all callers, facility users of all ages, and the general public. 
• Ability to perform basic mathematical computations and to collect and accurately record fees received. 
• Ability to work variable hours as assigned, including early mornings, weekends, holidays, etc. 
• Ability to pass a criminal background check 
• Ability to pass post-offer drug screen. 

Cashiers are needed to greet citizens and collect fees at . Cashiers are expected to work between 30 and 40 hours a week and may be assigned weekend shifts. The position pays $7.50 an hour.

Cashier Requirements:

• Minimum 16 years of age. 
• Ability to deal tactfully, cooperatively, and courteously with guests, facility users of all ages, staff and management. 
• Ability to perform basic mathematical computations and to collect and accurately record fees received. 
• Ability to work variable hours as assigned, including weekends, holidays, etc. 
• Ability to pass a criminal background and credit check.
