Life Sentences for Convicted Rapist

The Mableton man used a dating website and an alias to lure a victim into a sexual assault after a dinner at a Midtown restaurant.

SMYRNA-VININGS, GA -- A Mableton man has been given two consecutive life sentences following his conviction on charges of rape and aggravated sodomy in a Fulton County courtroom Wednesday afternoon.

Devin Hartman, 40, used OKCupid under the name of “Zach Anderson” to meet a woman for dinner at a restaurant in Midtown last year. The woman told investigators the next thing she remembered was waking up on the doorstep of her home without her wallet or keys.

Physical evidence showed that a sexual assault had taken place. DNA evidence recovered from the victim was later matched to Hartman, Fulton County prosecutors said.

During Hartman’s trial, four women who claimed Hartman had sexually assaulted them took the stand, according to prosecutors. Two of those cases are still pending.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Constance Russell classified Hartman as a “predator“ before issuing the consecutive life sentences, prosecutors said.
