Man Who Shot at Lil Wayne's Bus Gets Prison Time

Jimmy Winfrey, a/k/a "Peewee Roscoe," fired on the rap star's tour buses in the Cumberland area in an effort to gain "street cred."

The man who fired on rap star Lil Wayne’s tour buses in Atlanta during a dispute between Wayne and his former record label pleaded guilty to five charges and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, according to a report.

Jimmy Winfrey, also known as ”Peewee Roscoe,” was given a 20 year sentence but is eligible for parole in a decade, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Winfrey was driving on I-285 near I-75 in Cobb County in April when he opened fire on Lil Wayne’s buses after the rapper performed a show in the city. Nobody was injured, and it was never determined whether Wayne was inside any of the buses, but the gunshots did cause $20,000 in damage, the AJC said.

Winfrey allegedly told Lil Wayne that he would ”spray his bus” as a result of a dispute between Lil Wayne and Bryan “Birdman” Williams, who is the part owner of Cash Money Records, Wayne’s former label.

WSB-TV reports that Lil Wayne dropped the dispute, but the personal animosity between the two men lingered. An indictment claims that Jeffrey Lamar Willliams, also known as rapper Young Thug, supported Birdman in the dispute, and later threatened Lil Wayne’s life as a result of the impasse.

Police said in an arrest warrant that they believe Winfrey fired on the tour buses to increase his standing in the Bloods gang; the warrant adds that Winfrey has long been an associate of several Bloods members and claims that Lil Wayne is a “rival rap artist.” Young Thug, Birdman, and Lil Wayne are also Bloods members, the indictment claims.
