- Sen. Ed Setzler has introduced two bills to the Legislature that would address the electoral map issue currently ongoing in Cobb County. Senate Bill 124 proposes to ban counties from making changes to their own district maps, and Senate Bill 236 proposes to reinstate the electoral map that the Legislature approved last year that drew out Commissioner Jerica Richardson. Cobb County is currently using a map that it redrew to reinstate Richardson, and the change is currently being challenged in the court system. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
- Hobnob Neighborhood Tavern will be opening its fifth location, which will be taking over the former Paces & Vine restaurant space in Vinings. The restaurant focuses on serving comfort food and brunch foods. According to a Hobnob spokesperson in a press release announcing the new location, the restaurant will open sometime this summer. - New real estate properties continue to hit the local market. For those looking for a new home or those who want to keep an eye on the housing market, here are five open houses coming up in and around the Smyrna-Vinings area. - Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services has lost one of its own. The department announced the passing of Firefighter Julian Davis who served the citizens of the county for 18 years before his death on Feb. 28. - The Cobb County Corrier's Cat of the Day was a medium-sized male short hair named Ruffles. Ruffles is a sweet-natured cat waiting for his new forever home at the Cobb County Animal Shelter. (Cobb County Courier)
- March is Women's History Month, and Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta is planning to host its annual Mother and Daughter Summit in honor of the month. The wellness conference will be held on Mar. 11 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at KIPP WAYS Academy down the road in Atlanta. (Subscription: MDJOnline.com)
