Orchard Road Bridge to be Demolished, Rebuilt
The bridge will close Tuesday and a new bridge will re-open to replace it near the end of 2016, according to GDOT.
SMYRNA, GA -- Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will close Orchard Road Bridge that passes over I-285 next week for demolition and reconstruction.
The closure will begin on Tuesday, January 5 and will remain in place until the end 2016. The closure will require a traffic detour starting at the intersections of Orchard Road and Cumberland Parkway and Orchard Road and Paces Ferry Road.
Motorists can travel on Cumberland Parkway or Paces Ferry Road to access either side of Orchard Road. Detour signs will be in place to help motorists navigate the around the closure.
