Scam Caller Claimed Responsibility for Paris Attack: Police

The caller sought money from his victim and threatened to kill him when the victim started asking questions, Cobb County police said.

SMYRNA-VININGS, GA -- A Cobb County resident was called by a scammer who claimed to be responsible for the terrorist attacks in Paris, police said Wednesday.

The caller began requesting money from the victim, then threatened to kill the victim when the victim started asking who he was, spokeswoman Alicia Chilton said.

“The male also stated that he was responsible for the Paris attacks,” Chilton added.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the victim was an elderly male and adds that the caller referred to himself as ”David.”

Police investigated the incident but do not currently believe that any of the threats made by the caller have any merit to them, according to Chilton.
