- The Cobb County Police Department is hosting a Public Safety Forum on Mar. 25 that will include all public safety agencies in Cobb County, including the sheriff's office and police departments of all six cities in the county. The event will discuss topics such as active shooter events, future policing, gun safety and laws, building trust between law enforcement and the community, and public safety personnel and citizen interactions. It is a free event but requires registration for entry. (Cobb County)
- Cobb County Animal Services has an investigative unit to crack down on animal cruelty, and the partnership with the Cobb County Police Department has resulted in over 100 cases prosecuted in the past seven years. The director of the unit, Steve Hammond, says that the detective assigned to the unit has a difficult job, and the most rewarding part is seeing the countless success stories of rescued animals. One such success story is Mini, a dog who arrived at the facility severely emaciated and unable to walk after her owners were accused of starving her but is now recovering after being saved by the unit.
