  1. The Kennesaw State men's basketball team had an exceptional season, with Amir Abdur-Rahim named ASUN Conference Coach of the Year, and three players receiving honors. Brandon Stroud was named ASUN Defensive Player of the Year, Chris Youngblood was a First-Team All-ASUN selection, and Terrell Burden of Smyrna was the top vote-receiver on the All-ASUN Second Team. The team achieved many records and milestones, including breaking the previous school record for wins and securing the No. 1 seed in the ASUN Tournament, where they will host all their games. 2. The Buckhead City movement, which seeks to create a new city separate from Atlanta, received a party-line vote in a state senate committee on Monday, despite criticism that the new city could obtain valuable assets from Atlanta for little cost. Critics claim that nearby Buckhead City would pay bargain-basement prices to transfer valuable assets, such as Chastain Park, which could be sold for as little as $100 per acre. The movement gained traction last year amid concerns about rising crime rates in Atlanta and would allow Buckhead residents to vote on the formation of their own city. (11Alive.com WXIA)
  3. Cobb County firefighters rescued Trixie, a dog who fell 12 feet into a storm sewer drain yesterday. Trixie is a companion of a truck driver who had fallen into the drain while exploring an unfamiliar area during a pit stop. The firefighters were able to set up a rope system and lower one of their own to rescue Trixie, who was taken to the vet for treatment and is expected to recover. (11Alive.com WXIA)
