Smyrna Man Faces Murder Charge After Cobb Man Dies

Trinity Hardnett, who was shot last month at a Marietta apartment complex, died on Saturday as a result of injuries suffered in the shooting.

A Smyrna man now faces a charge of murder after the Marietta man he is accused of shooting died over the weekend.

According to Cobb Police Officer Mike Bowman, 35-year-old Trinity Hardnett was wounded during a May 21 shooting at the Edinborough Apartments in Marietta. He was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital after the shooting, but died on Saturday, June 21, as a result of injuries suffered.

Laronte Jamal Nelms, 22, was arrested May 27 on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery. He has remained in the Cobb County jail since, and now faces an upgraded charge of murder, according to Bowman.
