Town Hall on New CCT Flex Bus

A pilot bus service called Flex Route will soon be available to Smyrna-Vinings residents.

Residents are invited to attend a public meeting Thursday to learn more about a new bus service called Flex Route that will provide stops between Cumberland Mall and Austell.

The meeting, held by Cobb County officials, is scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m., Thursday, June 27 at Ron Anderson Recreation Center, 3820 Macedonia Road, Powder Springs.

The Flex Route pilot bus service provided by Cobb Community Transit is expected to start this fall, and will be available to riders in District 4. The proposed route is funded by federal and local grants.

A Flex Route bus picks up and drops off passengers at designated stops, and also flexes off its route up to three-quarters of a mile to serve people who have difficulty getting to a regular bus stop.

This shared ride, public transportation service is designed to help serve the unmet mobility needs of the community by combining the benefits of traditional fixed routes and demand response services.

The route also has the flexibility to stop at places other than the regular bus stops when a passenger has made a reservation in advance. Requests for deviated service may be made on the preceding business day that service is requested. However, additional notice is recommended. Reservations may be made between the designated hours Monday through Friday.

Below is a complete schedule of upcoming public meetings on the new bus service:
