Water Main Break Causes Low Pressure, Outages In Cobb
A major water main broke early Tuesday in Smyrna. A boil water advisory is in effect for 24 hours.
MARIETTA, GA -- A Tuesday morning water main break in Smyrna caused several hours worth of outages of low pressure throughout Cobb, including Smyrna, Mableton and Austell. According to county officials, the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority (CCMWA) identified a "significant line break" on Maner Road in Smyrna around 4 am Tuesday.
The CCMWA supplies water to the Cobb water department. Crews isolated the stretch of line between 6:30 and 7 am and began repairs at the intersection of Maner Road and Plant Atkinson Road.
Water officials said normal pressure in that line has been restored, but the ripple effect into the county system caused the loss of water pressure downstream.

The advisory is limited to customers south of Windy Hill and Macland Roads. It is recommended that customers boil all water used in the preparation of food and beverage for consumption for two minutes.
