Woman Crashed, Tried To Cross I-285 On Foot When She Was Hit By Multiple Cars: Police

After crashing into the median wall, the woman got out of her car and tried to get to the right shoulder when she was hit by cars and died.

COBB COUNTY, GA — A woman died after crashing into a median wall, trying to cross Interstate 285 on foot and being hit by multiple cars, Cobb County police said.

Just before 10 p.m. Monday, Shamauri L. Fluellen, 20, of Austell, was driving northbound on I-285 between South Cobb Drive and Atlanta Road when she lost control of her car and crashed into the median wall, police said.

Shortly afterwards, 36-year-old Trellany D. Taylor of Atlanta crashed into the back of Fluellen's car.

After both cars stopped in the left northbound lane, Fluellen got out of her car and tried to cross the interstate on foot into the right shoulder. That's when she was hit by multiple cars, according to Cobb police.

Fluellen died on the scene. Taylor did not require medical attention at the scene.

While several cars stopped and remained on scene, investigators said they believe the first car that hit Fluellen left before officers arrived. No description of the vehicle was available as of publication.
