DeKalb Man In Fatal 'Love Triangle Shooting' Sentenced To Life

The DeKalb County District Attorney's Office says a man fatally shot another man who contacted his girlfriend, who was also charged.

DECATUR, GA — A 24-year-old Stone Mountain man convicted of murder after being accused of fatally shooting another man who contacted his girlfriend has been sentenced to life in prison, the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office said Wednesday.

The district attorney's office said the killing was the result of a "love triangle shooting."

The conviction against Isaac Thompson follows allegations that he shot and killed 22-year-old Aquandis Foston on Feb. 20, 2021 at a Wells Circle townhouse in Stone Mountain, the district attorney's office said. Officers responded to the scene around 3:30 p.m.

Makayla Bolston, Thompson's 21-year-old girlfriend and co-defendant, contacted Foston multiple times to invite him to the home that day, the district attorney's office said.

When Foston arrived, the district attorney's office said Thompson and an unknown man confronted Foston and told him to leave. Foston refused to leave until he spoke with Bolston, the district attorney's office said.

An argument between the men ensued, and Thompson was accused of pulling out a gun and shooting Foston once in the chest before running from the scene.

During a jury trial on Nov. 7, the district attorney's office said Thompson was convicted of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus five years, the district attorney's office said.

Bolston, who was arrested in August 2021, was indicted and was charged on suspicion of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, the district attorney's office said. The case against Bolston is pending.
