Folk Art Gifts-Painted Flower Pots
Olivia Thomason, Georgia's "Queen of Folk Art," has the upcoming Season's Most Original Gifts.
STONE MOUNTAIN, GA. Her home studio in historic Stone Mountain Village is abuzz with activity as holiday shopping intensifies. Where she got the idea for painted flower pots is a good question. "I noticed some over-priced flower pots mass-produced in foreign countries and knew I could do better," Ms. Thomason said.
The rest is history.
Ms. Thomason, one of the South's most renowned folk artist is a former art instructor, award-winning gallery owner and much-in-demand folk artist who can create scenes from rural and urban America while showing a deep respect for people, places and lifestyles. A native of Hendersonville, North Carolina, her adult life has been in the Atlanta region and she resides in Historic Stone Mountain Village.

"Friends and strangers have been buying my flower pots for several months," Thomason revealed. "With Christmas season just around the corner, "friends asked me for original folk art gifts and this led to painted flower pots."
Olivia Thomason's creations are noteworthy for originality, good taste, and lots of color. She's an active citizen and member of the Stone Mountain Women's Club, Stone Mountain First United Methodist Church, and one of the founders of the Stone Mountain Hookers, the renowned fishing club.
