• Fire Kills GA College Football Player In Stone Mountain: Reports (patch.com) — Stone Mountain residents are mourning 21-year-old college football player Izaiah Taylor, who died Monday when a Rock Cliff Court home caught fire. DeKalb County Fire Rescue said he was pronounced dead at the scene, and Georgia Military College issued a heartfelt statement honoring the student-athlete and offering condolences to his family, friends, and former teammates.

With more neighbors, like a Stone Mountain resident caring for multiple strays, seeking help, the nonprofit is dipping into its retail supplies and asking the community for donations to keep pets fed.
   

• 6 DeKalb County schools removed from federal improvement list (fox5atlanta.com) — Stone Mountain families should know that Stone Mountain High School has been added to Georgia’s federal Targeted Support and Improvement list for extra help with students with disabilities. While six other DeKalb schools improved enough to exit CSI and TSI status, three—including Stone Mountain High—now qualify for additional support as the district works to boost outcomes.
