Police Shooting Injures Stone Mountain Man During Traffic Stop
The man was shot and injured while being placed under arrest during a traffic stop in Stone Mountain.
STONE MOUNTAIN, GA — A 64-year-old Stone Mountain man was shot during a traffic stop early Wednesday near Central Drive and Lancanshire Circle, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.
A DeKalb County Police officer conducted the stop around 3:15 a.m. The GBI said the officer then discovered there was an active arrest warrant for an unknown charge against the man, who was the driver of the car.
The man told the officer he had a gun, and while the officer was placing him under arrest, the GBI said the man was shot and injured.

Officers rendered aid, and the man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, the GBI said. His status was unknown Wednesday afternoon.
No officers were injured in the shooting, the GBI said.

Once the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office for review.
