Lithonia Man Charged With Murder In Fatal Lee Co. Shooting: GBI

The shooting, which occurred at a Lee County fast-food restaurant, killed a 50-year-old man, authorities say.

LITHONIA, GA — A 28-year-old Lithonia man is facing charges in connection with the shooting death of a Leesburg man, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Saturday.

Lee County deputies responded around 9:15 p.m. Friday to a U.S. 19 North fast-food restaurant, where the GBI said they saw Joseph Dorminey, 50, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Dorminey later died while at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany, the GBI said. A motive in the shooting is unknown.

The next day, around 8:30 a.m., deputies arrested Daquan Divonte Harris in connection with Dorminey's death, the GBI said. He was charged on suspicion of murder and aggravated assault, the GBI said.

Lee County Jail records show Harris was also charged on suspicion of possession of a knife or firearm during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies. He remained incarcerated Monday and did not have a bond, jail records show.

Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Southwestern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
