• Police Shooting Injures Man In DeKalb (patch.com) — Stone Mountain residents are learning more about a late-night police shooting on Wood Drive that left a man hospitalized in stable condition. Investigators say an officer responding to a domestic dispute encountered a separate man near a handgun, and opened fire after he allegedly ignored commands to move away. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the incident before sending findings to the DeKalb County District Attorney. 
• Mother of slain DeKalb County man calls for justice: 'You don't have the right to take it' (fox5atlanta.com) — A grieving mother is pleading for help after her son, Christopher Blake Verdell, was fatally shot and another person wounded at an apartment complex on Wood Bend Drive in Stone Mountain. DeKalb County police say the December 12 shooter is still on the run, and investigators have not released a motive or suspect description. Anyone with information is urged to contact police to help bring justice for Verdell’s three children and family.
