Woman Kills Girl, Then Self, In DeKalb Shooting, Police Say (patch.com) — Stone Mountain residents are reeling after DeKalb County police say a woman shot a man, killed a young girl, and then died by suicide during a domestic dispute on Chatfield Drive early Friday morning. Officers found the girl, described as older than 10, dead at the scene and the man seriously injured, while investigators work to understand the relationships and motive, and mental health resources are highlighted for those in crisis.

No power for over two weeks: Tenants say apartment complex has left them in the dark (11alive.com) — Stone Mountain tenants at one apartment complex have gone without power for more than two weeks, forcing a family into a cramped hotel room while their dark, unheated unit drops to 49 degrees. Management has covered the hotel but offered no clear repair timeline, and a reporter says the property manager laughed and refused to comment even as freezing temperatures and burst-pipe risks loom.
   

3. Person accidentally shot in parking lot of DeKalb County high school (atlantanewsfirst.com) — A person was accidentally shot Friday afternoon in the parking lot of Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain during dismissal, but is reported to be in stable condition at the hospital. The victim is not a student, and DeKalb’s interim superintendent says everyone involved will face appropriate legal and district consequences as officials investigate how the gun went off.
