Free Stage Performances for Tucker Community in March

The Smoke Rise Academy of the Arts (SRAA) drama department will present the family musical DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR. MARCH 22 – 24, 2019. Staged by the high school drama class, the production will be performed in the Fellowship Hall of Smoke Rise Baptist Church. Members of the Smoke Rise, Tucker and surrounding communities are invited to attend this free performance.

The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

Based on the original Broadway production that ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, and the Academy Award-winning motion picture, DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR. is a fantastic adaptation of the story of transformation and tolerance. The stage musical features some of the most popular songs ever written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Menken and Tim Rice.

DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR. is a magical musical suitable for all ages, filled with spectacular costumes and colorful sets. Show times are 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22; 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.; and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24. Each show will have concessions available for purchase during intermission. Attendance is free with no tickets required.
