Rapid Rabbit Rescue: Bunny Alerts DeKalb Family To Fire: Report
A Chamblee woman told reporters her rabbit knew something was happening and alerted her family to a fire by jumping, saving them.
CHAMBLEE, GA — A DeKalb County family is safe thanks to the quick action of their pet rabbit during a blaze that ripped through the back of their home, WSB-TV reported Saturday.
The fire reportedly sparked Friday morning at a Woodacres Road Northeast home in Chamblee.
Homeowner Erlene Rivera told WSB-TV that Coco, her bunny, knew something was happening and alerted the family by jumping while the smoke detectors were active.

Everyone safely exited the home, including Rivera's 92-year-old mother, according to the report.
DeKalb County Fire Battalion Chief Keven Cavanaugh told the news outlet the home sustained heavy damage on one of its sides, and the kitchen was moderately tarnished.

The blaze ignited from a warming fire that was not fully extinguished, he told WSB-TV.
The fire did not reach the family's Christmas gifts, which they were reportedly able to save.
