Betty Leah Davis nee Jacobson, age 86.
Beloved wife of Joseph R. Davis M.D. Ph.D. of 64 years. Dear mother of Philip Abraham (Donna) Davis, Eileen E. (Raymond) Heffernan M.D. MPH, and Ann R. (Steve Kovar M.D.) Davis M.D. Proud grandmother of Benjamin Kovar, Samuel Kovar, Sarah Heffernan, and Bryan Davis. Betty attended Marshall High School (’54) where she was named Miss Marshall and graduated from Roosevelt University with a BS in Biology. She was an X-ray technician at the University of Illinois Research and Education Hospital. Betty was a substitute teacher and tutored children with learning challenges. She was a devout Jew, selfless, and always concerned with the needs of others. She sponsored Soviet Jewish refugees at a time when they were not allowed to leave. She believed in her students when others did not and never gave up on them, and she absolutely loved the New York Times crossword puzzle. She loved us all and was a wonderful example for how to live a good life. Services have been held.
