EF-1 Tornado Confirmed In Aurora: National Weather Service
The tornado with winds between 95 to 100 miles per hour traveled from Sugar Grove to Aurora Monday night, the National Weather Service said.

AURORA, IL — An EF-1 tornado, with wind speeds between 95 to 100 miles per hour, landed in Aurora Monday night, the National Weather Service confirmed.
The Enhanced Fujita Scale is used to assign tornadoes a rating based on estimated wind speeds. City officials said the tornado hit the northwest quadrant of Aurora beginning at Route 56 to the west of Lake Street before tracking diagonally to Interstate 88.
It swept through the area from 8:49-9 p.m. and traveled about 8.4 miles between Sugar Grove and Aurora, according to weather service officials, who estimated the tornado's maximum width was 300 yards.

As the clean-up process continues in Aurora, the Aurora Emergency Management Agency is asking locals whose residences were damaged in the storm to complete an online surveycomplete an online survey to help potentially secure state and federal funding to assist in the recovery process.
"With the damage everywhere, not only in our region, gathering these damage surveys helps the state decide on disaster proclamations and the potential availability of funds," AEMA Coordinator Natalie Wiza said in a statement. "Your participation is critical to secure any potential support for our community."

The survey must be completed by 5 p.m. July 20, officials said. Anyone needing help filling out the form should call the city's customer service call center at 630-256-4636 or visit www.aurora-il.org/InfoAurora.
