Golf Ball-Sized Hail Falls In Aurora, 70 MPH Winds Possible: NWS
Golf ball-sized hail hit houses and cars throughout Aurora Tuesday. The high of 71 and continued chance of rain is expected into Wednesday.

AURORA, IL — Golf ball-sized chunks of hail fell out of the sky Tuesday afternoon as Aurora residents were out voting in the consolidated election.
A severe storm warning, with threats of 70 mph winds, was issued Tuesday for Kane and surrounding counties, according to the National Weather Service. It has since expired, Patch reported.
The weather service also warned of a "threat for destructive hail of up to baseball size" through the afternoon hours Tuesday. The hail is capable of causing extensive structure, window and vehicle damage, as well as serious injuries.

Tuesday's high was 71 degrees, and the warm, spring-like temperate is expected to remain Wednesday. More showers and heavier thunderstorms are also possible, with forecasts showing another 77 percent chance of rain.
For areas north of Interstate 88, Wednesday will be in the 40s and 50s, for areas south of I-80, it will be in the 70s or even 80, according to the National Weather Service.

During Tuesday's storm, North Aurora police officers prompted locals to post photos on Facebook of the size of hail they saw in their yards.
"Golf ball size hail at police station a short time ago. Anyone get anything bigger?" police said.
The post was met with more than 40 comments, most of them photos.
