High Winds, Damaged Power Lines Cause Power Outages In Aurora

At press time dozens of customers were still impacted by the outages.

AURORA, IL — High winds Monday morning and afternoon caused damaged power lines and power outages throughout Aurora. The winds, which were estimated to hit around 45 mph, led to a statement from the National Weather Service for Kendall, DuPage, and other surrounding counties.

As of 12 p.m., more than 70 people in Aurora were without power, with most of the outages concentrated on the city's northwest side. Most of the outages were estimated to be restored around 3 p.m., according to ComEd's website.

The high wind gusts were expected to pick up speed around 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Monday.
