Overnight Warming Center In Aurora Opens For 1st Weekend Of 2025
Each night, staff will provide guests at the city's temporary overnight warming center with a cot, snacks and water.
AURORA, IL — Aurora's temporary overnight warming center will be open for the first weekend of 2025.
Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, guests can use Wesley United Methodist Church, at 14 N. May St., to warm up from the harsh winter weather.
The church will be open until 8 a.m. Saturday and will reopen for the same time frame Saturday night into Sunday morning and again Sunday night into Monday morning.

Each evening, staff will provide guests with a cot, snacks and water. Security will also be on-site at all times.
Guests should use the entrance located through the courtyard that faces New York Street. The door can be seen under a ramp.

The city activates its overnight warming center depending on temperature thresholds. This weekend, the National Weather Service forecast shows a low between 7 to 13 degrees Friday, between 10 to 16 degrees Saturday and between 15 to 25 degrees Sunday.
A snowstorm is expected to hit the Chicago area Sunday going into Monday, the weather service said.
