Tornado Touches Down In Kane County During Strong Storm: Photo

A "very weak" tornado formed Monday afternoon at a farm in Kaneville, officials said.

KANE COUNTY, IL — A Kane County employee sent out into the storm Monday afternoon to track its path across the region was in the perfect place to capture a tornado touching down in Kaneville.

A photo taken by an employee of the Kane County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Management shows the small and “very weak” vortex stretching from the clouds to a farm near Interstate 88 and Dauberman Road in Kaneville.

OEM Director Sean Madison on Tuesday shared the photo from one of the office’s storm-spotters, who were positioned on Kane County’s western border and along Route 47. Madison said the small tornado, which formed at 3:26 p.m., did not do any damage.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Management responded to 17 reports of downed trees and wires after Monday afternoon’s strong storm, but no significant damages were reported, Madison said.
