Special Screenings Planned In January At Emagine Batavia
Open caption and sensory- and dementia-friendly screenings are on the docket for January at the Batavia theater.

BATAVIA, IL — Emagine in Batavia has a slew of special screenings planned for guests this January.
Throughout the month, the theater, at 550 N. Randall Road, is screening dementia-friendly and sensory-friendly movies as well as ones with open captions.

Open caption screenings, where some of the newest movies are shown with captions on Sunday and Wednesday afternoons. Showtimes can be found on Emagine's website.
- "Mufasa: The Lion King": Jan. 1
- "Sonic The Hedgehog 3": Jan. 5, Jan. 8
- "Better Man": Jan. 12, Jan. 15
- "September 5": Jan. 19, Jan. 22
- "Flight Risk": Jan. 26, Jan. 29
Sensory-friendly screenings, where lights are a little brighter and the sound is a little quieter. Guests are also encouraged to get up to move and dance.

- "Mufasa: The Lion King": The first showing of the day on Jan. 4
Dementia-friendly screenings, where movies are presented with softer sound and ambient lighting. Guests are also encouraged to interact and clap, tap their feet, dance and talk during the movie. Emagine works with local organizations to provide guests with a door-to-door experience guided by a team of dementia-friendly "Purple Angels," who act as guides from the beginning of the movie to the end.
