2 Found In Cop's Backyard With Gas Can, Lighter: Report
A 29-year-old Beverly man tried to resist arrest when he was caught in the alley, according to a police narrative.
CHICAGO — Chicago police have charged a man in connection with the report of two people found in a Chicago Police Department captain's backyard in Beverly with a gas can and lighter. Andrew Williams, 29, of the Beverly neighborhood is facing one charge of criminal damage to property and one count of resisting police from the Monday night incident that was reported just after 9 p.m. in Beverly, police said. A second person listed by police as an "offender" in the incident gas been released without charges on "insufficient probably cause to substantiate the charge."
In a statement, Chicago police would not confirm anything about the victim, but a CBS-2 Chicago report indicates he is a CPD captain.
Police said officers were called to the home at 9:08 p.m. on June 1 on a report of two people breaking their gate and entering their backyard. One of the burglars was carrying a gas can, the caller told police, and both who matched the homeowner's description were found in the alley behind the home.

Williams attempted to resist arrest, police said, and both were taken into custody. Both charges Williams faces are misdemeanors, police said.
